Athletic support: group and individual training, practice and progression time-management coaching, and in school grade monitoring.

Physical health: age-appropriate strength/conditioning, injury-prevention workshops, athletic trainers/rehab coordination, and practical nutrition counseling.

Life skills: goal-setting, college/scholarship planning, leadership, financial literacy, NIL and career exploration.

Although Mario and Michael came from different backgrounds, their college journeys followed a strikingly similar path — and that shared experience convinced them something had to change. Both entered high school without clear guidance on recruiting: they didn’t know how to approach coaches, plan effective visits, or manage the many demands of being a student‑athlete. That uncertainty made an already challenging process feel overwhelming.

Their paths converged in college, where they competed together and completed four successful years at Assumption University, helping secure the program’s first conference championship under coach Bob Chesney. That victory wasn’t just a highlight on the field — it reinforced what they already believed off the field: student‑athletes need better support.

Out of that conviction, Mario and Michael co‑founded First Start Foundation. They built this organization to fill the gap they experienced — providing clear, practical guidance for high school athletes and their families on recruiting, coach communication, campus visits, and the whole transition to college sports. First Start Foundation exists because every talented young athlete deserves the tools, confidence, and direction to take their next step.
